Explore the incredible world of creatures that are anything but ordinary! Students will discover amazing animals from around the globe, with each week focusing on a different unique animal or group of animals, exploring their habitats, adaptations, life cycles, behaviors, and the important roles they play in their ecosystems. We'll build observation skills, ask scientific questions, and develop a deeper appreciation for the diversity of life on Earth. Strengthen the connection between left and right brain hemispheres with fine motor and full body activities. Some examples of activities include using a marker in both hands at the same time to copy separate patterns for each hand, practicing rhythm tapping patterns with hands, and bouncing a ball while keeping a balloon afloat. Using household items, construction paper, items from nature, and other materials, we will create various crafts that may include toilet paper animals, turmeric prints, pop up flowers, mod podge lanterns, or many other ideas. Depending on student skill levels and available supplies, we may try to make paper or crystalize pinecones, or other longer projects that have a scientific background. Most of all, kids can add their own level of creativity to each project so they are challenged and engaged.

This hands-on social-emotional learning (SEL) class helps teens build healthy coping skills, increase emotional awareness, and develop resilience through creative projects and interactive activities. Students will explore topics such as identifying emotions, managing stress and anxiety, building self-esteem, practicing mindfulness, developing healthy communication and problem-solving skills, and resilience. Throughout our time together, students will create a coping box filled with a variety of DIY tools including slime, calming jars, journal, fidget items, and other emotional wellness items.

Letter Literacy Lab is a welcoming space for young learners just beginning their literacy journeys. This foundational class focuses on building essential phonological awareness and early phonics skills. Students will master the alphabet song, practice forming letters, and learn the primary sounds of consonants alongside short vowel sounds. This class uses a variety of multi-sensory activities. Children will reinforce what they learn through playful movement, interactive games, song, and hands-on dough trays—ensuring these important early concepts really stick. The class moves through the alphabet sequentially, introducing about two letters each week. To help children build confidence, every session includes dedicated time for practicing and strengthening different phonological skills.
**A Quick Note on Scope:** To give students the strongest possible start, this introductory class focuses entirely on individual letter-sound correspondence and phonological awareness. Advanced concepts—like blending, CVC words, sight words, and digraphs—are not covered in this specific course.

This semester, our book club will be listening to a read-aloud of Ivy, a fantasy novel by Katherine Coville. This is a cozy and magical story about a young girl and her grandmother who care for whimsical creatures at their cottage in the town of Broomsweep. Students do not need their own copy of the book but may enjoy having one to follow along with. Each class will include discussion and activities as well as a tasty snack that students can enjoy while listening to the book. Families are welcome to sign up for a week to bring a treat to share. Kids can also eat their own preferred snack during this time!
